CONCORD, NH (PRESS RELEASE) — The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the 2019 scholarship recipients for the Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund. Recipients include: Samantha Johnson of Conway; Megan Martin of Conway; and Emmet Mayer of Glen.
In addition to the new recipients, the Levy Scholarship Fund will continue to support 14 other students previously selected for up to four years of their post-secondary education.
The Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund awarded a total of $62,000 in scholarships in 2019. The Levy Scholarships have been awarded since 2004 — to date $1.2 million has been committed to supporting more than 200 deserving area students.
The Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 by the Pequawket Foundation from a legacy received from the Levy estate.
The Levys were interested in supporting students whose family resources might prevent them from attending college. While awards are primarily based on financial need, merit factors, including academic work, extracurricular activities, community and volunteer activities, and work experience are also taken into consideration.
Each year the Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Advisory Committee reviews applications from qualified graduating seniors from Kennett High School. Recipients are supported for up to four years of an undergraduate academic program.
Students interested in applying for the Levy Scholarship in 2020 should submit an application to the Charitable Foundation beginning February 1, 2020. Information about applying for scholarships is available on the Foundation’s website at www.nhcf.org/scholarships.
