We are living in unprecedented and uncertain times. Our communities have faced monumental challenges and turning points in the past — but never in such combination, or complexity.
As New Hampshire’s statewide community foundation, we are here for New Hampshire through whatever combination of challenges our communities face.
This is how — and why — community foundations are built.
While this report is a look back at 2019, it is impossible not to see everything through the lens of all that has happened since.
We decided to produce a scaled-down and online-only version of our usual report, and link you to stories of some of the great work that New Hampshire’s nonprofit sector has been doing to support our communities during these unprecedented times: to help vulnerable families, and people who are experiencing homelessness, to make sure kids have enough to eat and that people can get the health care and recovery supports they need, to protect victims of domestic violence, to report the news with accuracy and diligence. And to stories about how generous New Hampshire people are leaning in to help their neighbors, using their funds at the Foundation, and with a record-breaking New Hampshire Gives campaign in 2020. There are dozens more examples on our website.
We are inspired by the people who give to help make that work possible, by the way all of you nonprofit professionals, community leaders, Foundation donors, advisors, volunteers, board and staff have leaned into the set of challenges we now face. We ask you to continue to lean in, because the challenges our communities are facing will take more than a few months, or years, to solve. These challenges need every one of us to step forward with humility, with courage, and with great generosity; and work together for this place we all love.
Your community foundation is here for New Hampshire. No matter what.
Thank you for being part of it.
